How to Prevent Frozen Pipes

1/4/2021 (Permalink)

Winter is here, and with freezing temperatures could come frozen pipes.  Plumbing breaks and damage can be incredibly costly. So preparation is the key to keep your pipes from freezing.

Helpful Tips

*Locate your water main valve shut off. In case of an emergency you will be able to quickly shut water off. Knowing this information can save you thousands of dollars.

*In the attic, basement and crawl space, be sure to insulate your pipes to prevent them from freezing. These can be purchased from any hardware store.

*Exterior pipes:  make sure you know where all your outdoor spigots are and cover them with insulated spigot sleeves. Make sure outdoor water sources are shut off as well.

*Swimming pool and sprinkler pipes that are connected to the exterior of your home should also be covered with insulated pipe covers (sold at all hardware stores).
